October 3, 2015: I am VERY sorry to report that Conky Joe’s has CLOSED indefinitely. I have been told that a new marina will be coming to their space.
I hate to delete this entry, because it was a fun place, and I am sure many of you went there – so I am keeping it on the web site for the memories.
Conky Joe’s is a new restaurant that just opened January 2013, on a pier in Marsh Harbour. It is across from the Harbour General Store and Long’s Landing. We have known Miriam, the proprietor and head chef, for several years, and she is a GREAT cook! Conky Joe’s keeps strings of live conch hooked to the pier so they can be cleaned as they are ordered for Miriam to prepare. The BEST conch is fresh out of the shell! Try Miriam’s FRESH Conch Salad or Cracked Conch (pounded/tenderized and fried) – delicious!!!
Once the order has been placed the bartender or helper pulls the string of live conch from the water and cleans them so Miriam can cook them fresh! You can watch the conch being cleaned – interesting!
