Update: Hurricane Irma in Abaco – Sunday morning

Hello from Casuarina Point, Abaco. (If you do not see the full blog – click on the picture.) This is our 3rd day of 25 – 30 mph winds (Sunday morning) and rough seas, and we continue to be very thankful! Yesterday afternoon (Saturday) at low tide I went for a walk – and it was BEAUTIFUL – partly sunny – but still VERY windy! You would never know it was windy from these first pictures.

Saturday afternoon, September 9th. 20+ mph winds – but you would never know it from these pictures. The sun was shining and it was beautiful.

I will end with some pictures from my walk on the beach Saturday afternoon at low tide:

The beach in front of the houses is almost cleaned of the seaweed the storm brought in…..

The wind and surf took all the seaweed to the west end of the beach. When I walked, I had to stop where the seaweed was piled up. It was SO thick in spots, and I could not see what I would be stepping on, and I had bare feet – so I just went as far as I could.

Turtle Grass piled up at the west end of the Casuarina Point beach.

The same heavy rope I showed yesterday – but with my sandy toes to give you a better idea of how thick it is!

An egg sack??? It is soft, but I don’t know what it is – about 12″ long.

A neighbor’s bench with delicate shells – undisturbed by the wind..

A baby coconut blown from the tree – looks like an acorn!

Bougainvillea at Kokomo – still looking pretty! I hope I can wash the salt spray off soon enough so it won’t be burned by the storm.
